Comment: So far I’m happy with the product.

This review is from: K. WolfingerI recently purchased the Frigidaire 70 pint dehumidifier in June 2010 when the humidity level in our 1 year old 40×60 garage was at 99% and we started to see mold growth in some of the corners. I could not find another “large volume” unit for the price and decided to make the purchase. The dehumidifier arrived very quickly and within a week the level was down to 60% and now hovers anywhere between 51% and 65%…which I am happy with as it is a very large area that has concrete and a lot of recently painted wood. The unit is nice looking if you had to have a dehumidifier where people could see it and it appears “fancy” for our garage. We hooked up a hose for continuous drain because we had a drain close to the unit, but unlike other dehumidifiers that I’ve owned, this is not permanent and you can just remove the hose and the unit will drain back into the collection bucket. I like that it has an actual number setting for the humidity level and that it is not continuously forming an ice ball on the coils. Basically when the unit arrives you unpack it, leave it sit for an hour and then plug it in and run it on continuous (CO) cycle for a few days and then set the desired humidity level. Pretty simple. Within 2 weeks I purchased another for our 28×36 basement and that unit keeps the basement around 45% humidity. As they are both newer purchases…I can’t speak for longevity, but so far I’m very happy with the purchases and only time will tell.

Comment: works great! should have bought it years ago.

This review is from: Tenely SmithI bought this dehumidifier for the basement, to replace one that is 20 years old. It works great, is fairly quiet and feels sturdy (if you’ve looked at them in stores, some feel very cheap). 70 pints is the amount of moisture it pulls from the air – not the capacity. I do wish the capacity was greater. On humid summer days it needs to be emptied twice per day (or can be fed by hose directly to a drain for constant emptying. This unit puts out quiet a bit of heat so will raise the room temp a few degrees, which is just fine for my basement location.

Comment: Doing the job so far

This review is from: C. ArmstrongI bought this to replace a 20-year old Kenmore dehumidifier that had finally “given up the ghost” after working reliably with no maintenance. I intended to get a 50-pint version, but bought this larger 70-pint model because of good reviews and a good sale price at the time. It was delivered extremely quickly, was easy to set up, and has been working reliably for over a month now. It’s a little quieter than our previous unit. We have it in the hallway of a fairly large finished basement and noise has not been an issue at all. I don’t have the drain hose hooked up, and have had to empty the bucket every 24-48 hours due to the very wet and humid summer we’ve had in the St. Louis area. It is very easy to remove, dump, and replace – much better design than our old unit. So far, I’m very pleased with the purchase, and highly recommend this product. I’m guessing it won’t last as long as our previous one, but only time will tell….

This review is from: Mark A. SpizzouccoI ordered this product based on numerous internet reviews and the picture shown on the Amazon web site. The item arrived in a few days, it was the best price on the net and it included free shipping. However when it arrived it did not look anything like the picture shown on the Amazon site. I called customer service, they were great said they would ship another one overnight and have the UPS pick up the other unit. The next evening the UPS showed up with the same exact unit. These unit’s have the same serial number, but have a gray metal face plate instead of a white plastic grill. I called customer service again to explain the problem they said they would contact the warehouse and check to see what product was being stocked and shipped. Amazon arranged to have both units picked up and refunded the purchase price. Customer service did say they would contact me with an explaination. That was a week ago. Do not order this product if you are basing it on the picture shown.
